Jeffrey P. Rust is a partner concentrating in healthcare and corporate law. His experience includes transactional and regulatory matters, representing healthcare providers, as well as private and public companies in various industries. In his healthcare practice, Mr. Rust advises hospitals, health systems, and multi- and single-specialty medical practices. His practice includes physician-hospital joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt financings, corporate governance, business divorces, employment matters, shareholder and partnership agreements, contract drafting and negotiations, settlement agreements, and the formation and operation of for-profit and not-for-profit entities. He provides counsel to healthcare providers regarding compliance with federal and state fraud and abuse laws, reimbursement issues, self-referral and Stark implications of hospital-physician relationships, and a variety of complex legal, business, and transactional matters. He is a frequent contributor to Farrell Fritz's New York Health Law blog.
Mr. Rust was selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2013 in the field Health Care Law.
In 2007, Mr. Rust was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Long Island Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation. As of 2012, Mr. Rust has been elevated to Chairman of the Board for the Long Island Chapter and has been selected to serve as one of two delegates to the Arthritis Foundation's Northeast Regional Board.
He received his J.D. from The University of Akron School of Law in 1999, where he served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Akron Law Review. Mr. Rust also earned an M.B.A. in Finance from The University of Akron College of Business. He graduated from the State University of New York College at Geneseo in 1992 with a B.S. in Management.
Mr. Rust is a member of the New York State and American Bar Associations.
Mr. Rust is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, the New York State Bar Association and its Health Law and Business Law Sections, and the Health Law Section of the American Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in New York.
