Property Tax Bills in Nassau County Spell Trouble for Commercial and Multifamily Properties
With the new year comes the newly published Nassau County assessment roll for the 2025/26 tax year, published by the Department of Assessment on January 2, 2024. A searchable database can be found online at: LandRecord Lookup (nassaucountyny.gov)
Property owners and taxpayers who wish to contest a property assessment must file an application for review and correction of the assessment on or before March 1, 2024. The assessment “grievance” is filed with the Nassau County Assessment Review Commission (ARC), the agency charged with the duty of reviewing and correcting the tentative assessments. The timely filing of a grievance by a taxpayer is a prerequisite for review of the tentative assessments that will form the basis of the October 2025 School and January 2026 General property tax bills for real property in Nassau County.
Likewise, New York City will publish the new assessment roll for the 2025/26 tax year on January 15, 2024. Property owners and taxpayers for real property located in the five boroughs can expect annual Notice of Property Value in the mail from the NYC Department of Finance. The deadline to appeal to the NYC Tax Commission in March varies based on property type. A searchable database can be found online at: Property Assessments (nyc.gov)
Additionally, other assessing jurisdictions will have also published copies of their 2024 assessment rolls, including the City of White Plains and the City of Syracuse, of which partner Ryan Hild discussed in a prior tax tracker.
