Farrell Fritz is pleased to announce the additions of Matthew D. Wagoner, former Managing Partner at The Wagoner Firm as a partner, as well as associates Scott F. Owen and Cheryl Kraus to its growing Albany office.
As a well-known and experienced commercial litigator and transactional attorney in the Capital Region, Matt Wagoner blends legal advice with practical business counsel based on his own unique entrepreneurial experience. Matt began his legal career in New York City where he served as the Principal Law Clerk to a Supreme Court Justice in one of the busiest and most diverse jurisdictions in the world.
Before launching The Wagoner Firm, he worked at one of New York’s more notable boutique law firms where he focused on representing large, national and regional clients with a variety of business and litigation matters including highly complex commercial disputes, corporate governance matters and regulatory compliance.
Matt launched The Wagoner Firm to address a need for entrepreneurial legal services in the region to match the ever-changing business environment. Pairing his talents with Mark Ustin (Albany office leader), the partners and the entire team at Farrell Fritz was a natural fit.
“Joining a firm like Farrell Fritz provides my practice with a tremendous platform for comprehensive client support and continued growth,” Wagoner said. “As our clients expand and their operational challenges evolve, the resources of a full-service firm become essential to their success. Farrell Fritz’s experienced and entrepreneurial team is focused on helping clients navigate a wide spectrum of business and legal challenges. We’re excited to join them and continue to build on their successes here in Albany.”
Scott F. Owen joins the firm as an Associate in the firm’s Commercial Litigation practice. He regularly represents clients in local, state and federal courts. He is adept at helping clients resolve disputes in an efficient and effective manner. An active member of the community during law school and beyond, Scott has dedicated significant time and effort to pro bono work.
Cheryl Kraus joins the firm as an Associate in the firm’s Healthcare and New York State Regulatory & Government Relations practices. With a legal and advocacy portfolio anchored in healthcare, human services, and gender equity issues, Cheryl has more than twenty years of experience advocating for individuals, historically marginalized communities, and counseling organizations with a global reach. She has been recognized by City & State New York as a leader in government relations and social services, has been honored by Best Lawyers in the area of Government Relations, and has been recognized by the University at Buffalo School of Law as an Influencer.
“Adding high-caliber attorneys across a range of practice groups in the Albany market reflects our commitment to Farrell Fritz’s growth plans as a firm,” said Robert C. Creighton, the firm’s managing partner. “As we continue to build the firm as a resource for middle market companies, their founders, and wealthy families, bringing top entrepreneurial talent to the firm is a priority as we look to the future. Our new team members match our client-driven, community-focused culture, and we are confident their values will align positively with our mission.”
Farrell Fritz is a full-service law firm with more than 80 lawyers located throughout New York, with five offices in Albany, New York City, and Long Island (Uniondale, Hauppauge and Water Mill).
