This two-part 6-Hour Guardian Ad Litem Training is designed to provide attorneys who practice or aspire to practice in Surrogate’s Court with the training needed to be eligible to apply for enrollment as a Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) in Surrogate’s Court.
Taught by a panel of Surrogates, court attorneys, and experienced trusts and estates attorneys, this training is designed to provide participants with a fundamental understanding of the GAL appointment process, ethical considerations, administration proceedings, probate proceedings, the SCPA 17-A guardianship, miscellaneous proceedings, accounting proceedings, kinship hearings, and the GALs in Supreme Court and other courts. The program materials include outlines and sample GAL reports.
