Peter J. Sluka represents individuals and entities in all phases of complex commercial litigation. Peter focuses his practice on business divorce and intra-company disputes, including at mediation, arbitration, trial, and appeal. Regularly litigating in New York State and Federal Court, Peter handles all aspects of claims between owners of closely-held business entities, including disputes over business valuation, fiduciary duties, governing agreements, capital calls, dilution, shareholder oppression, and dissolution.
Peter works closely with business owners to understand the nature of their business and the dynamic among its owners in order to effectively guide his clients toward a negotiated or litigated resolution. For that reason, Peter is sought by active and passive, controlling and non-controlling owners involved in all phases of disputes with their co-owners. Peter is known for his representation in cases featuring derivative claims, freeze-out mergers, and complex business and real property valuation.
Knowledgeable in his field, Peter co-authors the firm’s New York Business Divorce blog and is a prolific presenter on business divorce, dissolution, and limited liability companies. Prior to joining the firm, Peter was an associate at an AmLaw 100 firm and a law clerk for the Hon. Joanna Seybert in the United States District Court, Eastern District of New York.
